Section 3 - HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION
EMERGENCY OVERVIEW
Hygroscopic (absorbs moisture from the air).
Potential Health Effects
Eye:
Dust may cause mechanical irritation.
Skin:
Low hazard for usual industrial handling.
Ingestion:
No hazard expected in normal industrial use.
Inhalation:
May cause respiratory tract irritation.
Chronic:
Chronic inhalation of dust may lead to silicosis. Chronic inhalation can cause pneumoconiosis.

Section 4 - FIRST AID MEASURES
Eyes: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. If irritation develops, get medical aid.
Skin:
Flush skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Get medical aid if irritation develops or persists. Wash clothing before reuse.
Ingestion:
If swallowed, do not induce vomiting unless directed to do so by medical personnel. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical aid.
Inhalation:
If inhaled, remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Get medical aid.
Notes to Physician:
Treat symptomatically and supportively.

Section 5 - FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
General Information:
As in any fire, wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent), and full protective gear. Substance is noncombustible.
Extinguishing Media:
Use extinguishing media most appropriate for the surrounding fire.

Section 6 - ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
General Information: Use proper personal protective equipment as indicated in Section 8.
Spills/Leaks:
Vacuum or sweep up material and place into a suitable disposal container. Clean up spills immediately, observing precautions in the Protective Equipment section. Avoid generating dusty conditions.
Provide ventilation. Material is a regenerative adsorbent capable of taking up and holding about 4X its weight of water. If spilled, it will adsorb water vapor from the air and any moisture from surroundings.

Section 7 - HANDLING and STORAGE
Handling:
Wash thoroughly after handling. Remove contaminated clothing and wash before reuse. Use with adequate ventilation. Minimize dust generation and accumulation. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and clothing. Avoid breathing dust.
Storage:
Store in a cool, dry place. Keep container closed when not in use.
Store protected from moisture.

Section 8 - EXPOSURE CONTROLS, PERSONAL PROTECTION
Engineering Controls:
Use adequate general or local exhaust ventilation to keep airborne concentrations below the permissible exposure limits.
Exposure Limits CAS# 7631-86-9: United Kingdom, WEL - TWA: 6 mg/m3 TWA (inhalable dust); 2.4 mg/m TWA (respirable dust) United Kingdom, WEL - STEL: 18 mg/m3 STEL (inhalable dust); 7.2 m STEL (respirable dust) Germany: 4 mg/m3 TWA (inhalable fraction) Russia: 1 mg/m3 TWA CAS# 112926-00-8: Belgium - TWA: 10 mg/m3 VLE Malaysia: 10 mg/m3 TWA Spain: 10 mg/m3 VLA-ED Personal Protective Equipment Eyes: Wear appropriate protective eyeglasses or chemical safety goggles as described by OSHAs eye and face protection regulations in 29 CFR 1910.133 or European Standard EN166.
Skin:
Glove protection is not normally required.
Clothing:
Protective garments not normally required.
Respirators:
A respiratory protection program that meets OSHAs 29 CFR 1910.134 and ANSI Z88.2 requirements or European Standard EN 149 must be followed whenever workplace conditions warrant respirator use.
