Section 3 - HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION
EMERGENCY OVERVIEW
Highly flammable. Contact with water liberates extremely flammable gases. May form explosive peroxides. Causes burns.Water-reactive.Highly flammable.Corrosive.Moisture sensitive.
Potential Health Effects
Eye:
Causes eye burns. When substance becomes wet or comes in contact with moisture of the mucous membranes, it will cause irritation. May cause chemical conjunctivitis and corneal damage.
Skin:
Causes skin burns. May cause cyanosis of the extremities. May cause skin rash (in milder cases), and cold and clammy skin with cyanosis or pale color.
Ingestion:
May cause severe and permanent damage to the digestive tract. Causes gastrointestinal tract burns. May cause perforation of the digestive tract. May cause cardiac disturbances. Ingestion of large amounts may cause CNS depression. May cause systemic effects.
Inhalation:
Causes chemical burns to the respiratory tract. May cause abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and inflammation of the gums and mouth.
Aspiration may lead to pulmonary edema. Vapors may cause dizziness or suffocation. May cause cardiac abnormalities. May cause systemic effects. Inhalation at high concentrations may cause CNS depression and asphixiation. May cause burning sensation in the chest.
Chronic:
Effects may be delayed.
Section 4 - FIRST AID MEASURES
Eyes: Get medical aid immediately. Do NOT allow victim to rub eyes or keep eyes closed. Extensive irrigation with water is required (at least 30 minutes).
Skin:
Get medical aid immediately. Immediately flush skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash clothing before reuse. Destroy contaminated shoes.
If water-reactive products are embedded in the skin, no water should be applied. The embedded products should be covered with a light oil.
Ingestion:
Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical aid immediately. Do NOT induce vomiting. If conscious and alert, rinse mouth and drink 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water.
Inhalation:
Get medical aid immediately. Remove from exposure and move to fresh air immediately. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Do NOT use mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. If breathing has ceased apply artificial respiration using oxygen and a suitable mechanical device such as a bag and a mask.

Section 5 - FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
General Information:
As in any fire, wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent), and full protective gear. Reacts violently with water giving off flammable gas which may explode. Vapors may form an explosive mixture with air. Vapors can travel to a source of ignition and flash back.
Material can spontaneously ignite (pyrophoric) when exposed to air at normal or slightly elevated temperatures. Can burn in a fire, releasing toxic vapors. During a fire, irritating and highly toxic gases may be generated by thermal decomposition or combustion. Will burn if involved in a fire. Water Reactive. Material will react with water and may release a flammable and/or toxic gas. Use water spray to keep fire-exposed containers cool. Containers may explode in the heat of a fire. Flammable liquid and vapor. Vapors may be heavier than air. They can spread along the ground and collect in low or confined areas. May ignite or explode on contact with steam or moist air. May re-ignite after fire is extinguished.
Extinguishing Media:
Use water spray to cool fire-exposed containers. Water may be ineffective. Do NOT get water inside containers. Contact professional fire-fighters immediately. DO NOT USE WATER OR FOAM. For small fires, use dry chemical, soda ash, lime or sand. For large fires, use dry sand, dry chemical, soda ash or lime or withdraw from area and let fire burn.

Absorb spill with inert material (e.g. vermiculite, sand or earth), then place in suitable container. Avoid runoff into storm sewers and ditches which lead to waterways. Clean up spills immediately, observing precautions in the Protective Equipment section. Remove all sources of ignition. Use a spark-proof tool. Provide ventilation. Do not expose spill to water. A vapor suppressing foam may be used to reduce vapors.

Handling:
Remove contaminated clothing and wash before reuse. Do not allow water to get into the container because of violent reaction. Ground and bond containers when transferring material. Use spark-proof tools and explosion proof equipment. Do not breathe dust, vapor, mist, or gas. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. Empty containers retain product residue, (liquid and/or vapor), and can be dangerous.
Keep container tightly closed. Keep away from heat, sparks and flame.
Do not ingest or inhale. Do not allow contact with water. Use only in a chemical fume hood. Discard contaminated shoes. Do not pressurize, cut, weld, braze, solder, drill, grind, or expose empty containers to heat, sparks or open flames. Keep from contact with moist air and steam.
Storage:
Keep away from sources of ignition. Store in a cool, dry place.
Store in a tightly closed container. Keep under a nitrogen blanket.
